Overview

This course is Part I of Recruitment and Selection. It introduces us to the recruitment areas of preparing for and commencing recruitment actions, announcing job openings, and reviewing applicant information or materials. Information about testing or assessing candidate qualifications is also covered. These areas comprise important steps to successfully conduct consideration of job candidates.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify timing and techniques to announce job openings/positions
  2. Recognize methods to review candidate applications and qualifications
  3. Detail steps to prepare for and interview job candidates

Course Vocabulary

KSAs – knowledge, skills and abilities
KSAOs – knowledge, skills, abilities and other attributes
Structured interview – an interview that uses a predetermined set of questions, which are used the same for all candidates or interviewees
Open ended questions – questions that cannot be answered with a simple yes or no
