Overview

What do courts do? Why are these purposes deemed so essential that an entire separate branch of the United States government is dedicated to achieving these purposes? This course discusses the “Traditional Purposes of Courts” as well as the nine more recent purposes of courts, urging learners to continue the discussion, refinement, and debate as to what are the purposes of courts today.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Understand the goal and intent of eDevLearn and CourtLeader in delivering accessible and affordable professional development courses.  
  2. Recognize our vision for delivering micro-courses and their future impact on the profession of court administration.
  3. Recognize the importance of the salient Purposes and Responsibilities of Courts as a foundation to the entire range of the 13 CORE Competencies.
